Trauma Intensive Retreat FAQ

An intensive retreat is a weekend away from home to process and experience intensive therapy in a private and intimate setting. You arrive Friday and leave Sunday, a true weekend getaway.
An intensive session in counseling is a longer and more concentrated therapeutic session, often lasting 3-4 hours per day (1.5-2 hours at a time) for multiple days. We will complete an intake session Friday evening, you will experience multiple intensive sessions Saturday morning and will spend the rest of Saturday and Sunday relaxing, reflecting, and resting, while enjoying all of the amenities Puerto Azul has to offer.
This approach allows for a deep dive into specific issues, proving an immersive and focused experience for clients different from your typical 50-minute session.

During the intensive we work together to acknowledge pain points in your life, past or present, process relationships and events that affect your regulation in your day-to-day life, your trauma history, or your worries of the future.
This processing will be individualized to what your unique needs are at this time.
EMDR is utilized to initiate and guide the trauma process work. Through this experience you will gain new self-regulation tools and understandings.
After the EMDR intensive, we’ll meet for a post-intensive interview to reflect on what you processed and learned about yourself. What insights did you gain about yourself and how do you continue moving forward in life with these new revelations.

The weekend retreat intensive includes intensive individualized EMDR therapy, and a weekend stay at a lakeside condo. You arrive Friday evening and depart Sunday morning. The therapist comes in person where you work together through your therapeutic journey. Some people prefer this option, to have the weekend to decompress, escape, and fully immerse themselves into the therapeutic process without having to rush back into their normal day to day duties.
Amenities offered during the retreat are outdoor and indoor pools and hot tubs, spa, sauna, gym, lake access, and more.

Food is not included, however there are many delicious restaurants and food trucks located nearby. Local coffee and donut shops are within a five-minute drive as well.
The condo as everything you will need to cook your own meals if you choose to.

What are the fees?
Personalized EMDR intensives are half-day to multi-day programs that include a customized client workbook specific to your goals. Fees are based on your needs and program design and are communicated ahead of time in accordance with the No Surprises Act.
Typically, intensive therapy is 250$ an hour on weekdays (M-TH) and $300/hour on weekends.
Retreat Intensive packages (intake & 1 intensive session) start at $3,000.*

7 individual sessions will be needed to meet the same clinical processing time as 1 intensive session. Individual therapy 175$ an Hr = 1,225 & 1.5 months later.

I can provide a super bill for these experiences, however insurance only covers one individual session per day so only a small portion of this would be covered by insurance.
You can use your HSA benefits for the therapy fees.

As soon as we get you on the schedule we will meet for a 20-30 min overview/consultation. After this, if you’re ready to move forward with scheduling and getting your intensive scheduled, we will proceed with payment and scheduling.
50% deposit is due at scheduling & the remainder of the fee is due the day of check in.
